Living willow harlequin tree and out door structure workshop 15th March

On this workshop day

You will create your own living willow harlequin tree to take home.

You will learn what is needed to create a large structure such as a fedge, dome or arbour to make at home, including how to choose a suitable site, prepare it for planting, choose the right willow for the job, design and build a structure and how to maintain it.

We will then be putting all that you learn on the day into practice by creating a large willow arbour on the grounds of the lovely Southampton City Farm for visitors to enjoy.

 What is included 

All materials including some of my own organically grown willow, use of tools and handouts to take home . 

Hot drinks and cake will be provided ( vegan and gluten-free options are available)

You will need to bring your own lunch there is a small cafe on site selling snacks and hot toasties.

Venue Southampton City Farm, Green Lane , Milbrook Southampton 

Please note that this is quite a physicaly demanding  activity you will  need a reasonable level of manuel dexterity. we will be bending over and kneeling at times as well as standing and making holes in the ground for the willow, the activity may involve clearing grass  for the second part of the activity when we are planting the willow sticks to create the arbour.

You will need to wear suitable shoes and clothing for working outside. The harlequin tree will be created in the ground,  ready to plant in the garden if you wish to grow yours in a pot you will need to bring a pot with you.
