I am excited to share that over the past few weeks, I have been busy creating ten willow sculptures for the inspiring Gilbert White House and Gardens in Selborne, Hampshire, as part of their first-ever Eco Light Festival.

For those who may not know, Gilbert White was an 18th-century naturalist and writer famous for his book *The Natural History of Selborne*, published in 1789. This book has been continuously in print since its release and has inspired generations to appreciate the natural world around us. It is a must-read for anyone interested in British wildlife.

I was thrilled to be invited to contribute to this inaugural eco light festival, with my sculptures inspired by artwork and descriptions from White's book. Other talented creatives involved include Louise Arthur from Rough Around the Hedges, who has crafted stunning lanterns; William Lindley, who created beautifully drawn animations; and Tiffany Francis-Baker, who contributed inspiring poetry all involved have been inspired by White's work.

This event would not have been possible without grant funding from East Hampshire District Council’s Rural Grant Scheme, which allowed for the purchase of solar-powered lighting and materials, as well as an Arts Council England Project Grant that funded the commissioning of the artworks.

The festival is set to take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4:30 PM to 8 PM, starting Thursday, November 21, 2024, through Saturday, December 21, 2024. For more details, visit https://gilbertwhiteshouse.org.uk/.../whites-eco.../....
